Kansas City Speech Professionals is a therapist-owned and operated company providing speech-language and dyslexia evaluation and treatment to the greater Kansas City area.
Our Story
Kansas City Speech Professionals was founded in 2014 by Stacy Cates and Amy Burns—two University of Kansas graduates who have been practicing speech-language pathology since 2012.
They started KCSP with a simple mission: provide families with exceptional, evidence-based speech therapy without the long wait times and impersonal experience of larger clinics.
The mission of KCSP is to provide comprehensive speech and language evaluation and therapy, including dyslexia diagnosis and therapy, to clients across the lifespan. As a therapist-owned company, their focus is on providing exceptional speech and language services to people across the lifespan in a small business setting.

Dr. Stacy Cates, SLP.D., CCC-SLP
Co-Founder & Speech-Language Pathologist
Stacy graduated from the University of Kansas with her Doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology. She has been practicing since 2012 and has experience working with a wide range of communication disorders across the lifespan. Stacy is passionate about helping individuals with dyslexia and reading difficulties reach their full potential.
Dr. Amy Burns, SLP.D., CCC-SLP
Co-Founder & Speech-Language Pathologist
Amy graduated from the University of Kansas with her Doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology. She has been practicing since 2012 and specializes in pediatric speech and language disorders, literacy, and dyslexia. Amy is dedicated to providing evidence-based, individualized therapy to help each client achieve their communication goals.
