KANSAS CITY SPEECH PROFESSIONALS
Welcome to Our Practice
We are a therapist owned and operated company providing Speech-Language and Dyslexia Evaluation and Treatment to the greater Kansas City area.
KCSP provides speech, language, voice, cognitive, and dyslexia evaluation and treatment for all ages.
COMPREHENSIVE DYSLEXIA DIAGNOSTICS
The ability to read and comprehend information is vital to a student's academic success. KCSP can provide comprehensive Dyslexia testing without the long wait of other testing facilities.
PRE-LITERACY & EARLY LITERACY INSTRUCTION GROUPS
Supplemental reading instruction groups for pre-literacy and early literacy skills. Typically for ages 4 to 7. Group sessions are held twice a week for 45 minutes for 12 weeks total. A diagnostic pre-test and post-test are included.
MULTISENSORY READING INTERVENTION
We offer an Orton-Gillingham based program that provides structured, systematic, multisensory reading intervention for beginning readers.
ARTICULATION EVALUATION AND THERAPY
Children should be producing all sounds in the English language by age 8. When those sounds are difficult for your child to produce, KCSP can provide the therapy needed to address this concern.
STUTTERING EVALUATION AND THERAPY
Stuttering can impact young children and adults. For young children, therapy centers on the family and modifications that can be made in the home.
For adults and adolescents who stutter, school, social lives, and jobs can be greatly impacted. KCSP can provide direct therapy to help you understand stuttering and learn strategies to increase speaking fluency.
TONGUE THRUST THERAPY
Braces are expensive. When the braces are ready to come off, you want to ensure that a tongue thrust will not push those teeth back out. KCSP offers a therapy program to address this concern.
LANGUAGE EVALUATION AND TREATMENT
By age 1, children should be saying their first word. Around 18-months, a child has a typical vocabulary of 50 words. By age 2, children should be putting two words together.
Is your child a "late talker"? Are you concerned that your younger child is not using pronouns or verb tenses correctly? Does your child have difficulty following directions or understanding wh-questions? These are all valid concerns that KCSP can evaluate and provide treatment for if a language delay or disorder is present.
COMPENSATORY SKILLS TRAINING FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL, HIGH SCHOOL, AND COLLEGE
KCSP offers a 4-6 week program that teaches note-taking, study skills, test-taking, and additional skills to help older students become more independent in the academic setting. This program was created for students with dyslexia, but is beneficial for any individual looking to make their academic career more manageable and less stressful.
Voice disorders can affect people of all ages for a variety of reasons. KCSP can provide the therapy needed to improve voice disorders and promote healthy vocal hygiene.
A stroke can affect a person's language and cognitive abilities as well as their ability to produce sounds. KCSP can provide therapy to improve as well as maintain speech abilities following a stroke.
